Each monster can be found by collecting food drops from each level passed. Collected eggs grant access to new monsters that have varying rarity and attribute. This will help them fight faster and more powerfully so they can fill up the combat bar.Įach level in Monster Tales grants a specific number of items. Additionally, they can easily create boosters that increase energy collected. Specifically, these players need to have skill and strength. This is because PVP levels challenge you with difficult situations that require a strong squad of players. When playing PVP levels, you must always be aware of your surroundings. Because of that, players need to be strategic when picking their teammates- as attributes like strength and intelligence are incredibly important when winning a match. Getting this team element is important for any player- it helps them in strategy, strength and enemy battles. Once it does, you can use the bar's full power to deal massive damage to your enemies. When making a match, the attack energy in the bar will fill up. If the player is successful, they can observe five characters attacking simultaneously. When matched, the attacking monster's attack is revealed. During each round, players can create energy for their monsters by matching elements. A full playthrough lasted us about 8-9 hours, which was plenty of amusement for the price.Each level of Monster Tales begins with a view of the field that incorporates many brightly colored match elements with geometric shapes such as flames, drops of water, and triangles.
If there’s any major weakness the game has, its that its almost too simple, but I get the feeling that DreamRift wanted it to be something both kids and adults could enjoy, and it certainly fits that bill.
That’s okay, though, because the fun of the game’s partner mechanic and ease of play far outweigh the annoyance of having to retrace your steps a few times. You’ll revisit each area at least once, and Ellie’s not exactly a speed demon. One thing I did not like about Monster Tale was the backtracking.
I personally like this as there are times where I forget where I’ve already been in this map style, and it can be useful to have a guide. It’ll always tell you where to go next and show it on the map. One thing the game does do is handhold, which will either be handy to you or piss you off, depending on what you prefer. I found Monster Tale to be moderately challenging, but never quite as much so as Hatsworth was, so this is obviously aimed at a slightly different audience. As for gameplay, it flows forward in a pleasant manner.
